This is a very special and large Ruskin Pottery high fired vase having a sang de beouf fissured glaze. This vase is good all of the way around with lots of different areas of interest to the piece. The flambe ox blood glaze has been fired on top of a dove grey high fired ground. The vase is hand thrown and shows some throwing lines. It was made just after the first real beginning of British studio pottery was created and I think this piece is a reaction to that. If we consider Bernard Leach begins making pots commercially around 1919, this could be Ruskin Pottery's attempt to infiltrate that market. It measures 30cm tall and is fully marked to the base. It is in excellent condition.
