This is a fantastic Ruskin Pottery high fired ivory and oxblood mallet shaped vase dated 1915 on an octagonal high fired stand. This mallet vase is such a pure piece, it has a very subtle red spotted curtain against an ivory coloured ground. This effect is entirely intentional and is a classic Chinese gaze on a Chinese shape. The stand has a dove grey glaze has red spotting. I imagine that these piece never originally started off life together, but they certainly compliment themselves. The vase is in very good condition apart from a tiny rim frit. The stand is in good condition. The vase measures 19cm tall and the stand 17cm in diameter.
