This is a beautifully observed and sensitive half length pastel portrait by William Francis Kebbell (1888-1963) depicting his daughter Joanna. William Kebbell was born in Queensland Australia but became a sucessful portrait painter in London. He was a member of the Ipswich Art Club between 1922 and 1926. He was a regular exhibitor at The Royal Academy and highly regarded, he also sold his work through The Walker Gallery. His daughter was an accomplished ballerina having trained at The Bolshoi. This work will date to the 1940's and has been kept in it's original Rowley Gallery frame. It is fully signed and in good condition. It measures 82cm by 71cm in total, image size is 59cm by 50cm.
