This is, we believe, an extremely rare James Powell and Son drinking glass with prunts, trailing and fine engraved decoration. We cannot find any documentary proof, but we think this glass is one of a collection of 48 different glasses that were made by Powell based on examples of early glazed exhibited in museums throughout Europe. This glass is engraved 'Anna Roemers 1621'. We are confident due to the colour of the glass and the techniques involved that this piece is made by James Powell. Unfortunately there are no images of this exhibition of 48 historical glasses, but I believe that this must be one of them due to the inscription found on the glass. Why else would it have this inscription. It measures 13cm tall and is in excellent condition. It is a super quality piece.
