This is a beautifully observed and sensitive pastel portrait by William Francis Kebbell (1888-1963) depicting his daughter Joanna. William Kebbell was born in Queensland Australia but became a successful portrait painter in London. He was a member of the Ipswich Art Club between 1922 and 1926. He was a regular exhibitor at The Royal Academy and highly regarded, he also sold his work through The Walker Gallery. His daughter was an accomplished ballerina having trained at The Bolshoi. This work will date to the 1930s and has been kept in its original Rowley Gallery frame. It is fully signed and in good condition. It measures 61cm by 52cm in total, image size is 38cm by 30cm.
