This is a very interesting and early watercolour titled, "Head of a country woman" dated 1932 and signed by Arthur Smith (later changed his name to Berridge). This is a very "warts and all" type portrait obviously intended to be an accurate depiction of a woman living a country life. He has once again used very earthy and gritty colours. It has the provenance of coming from the family estate. Framed it measures 55cm x 47cm, the image 24cm x 21cm
