Newlyn Arts and Crafts Large Copper Lantern Light, SOLD

This is a superb quality large Arts and Crafts beaten copper hanging lantern attributed to Newlyn. A large almost identical hanging lantern can be seen in the Cornish Art Metal book by Colin Pill, it is illustrated in a period image of the Newlyn Copper Works. It shows Tom Batten and John Payne Cotton with two unknown apprentices, one of the men is working on a version of this lantern. I believe this model to be very rare. It is in good condition generally. It has replacement glass, hanging chains and ball feet. This piece really is so well made and is a beautiful colour. It has a fantastic door and latch bolt which is a really unusual feature. It measures 36cm from the feet to the top of the lantern.
